Description

Clarence McMurtry, the father of two successful boxers, built this boxing facility in 1955. The boxing gym in Tacoma was called the McMurtry Gym. Clarence was a bread salesman and loved boxing. He boxed as an amateur and he wanted his two sons to box. He got his wish. His sons, Pat and Mike McMurtry, were both successful boxers and they have both been inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame for their accomplishments as boxers. When Pat was just 6 years old, his father gave him boxing gloves for a Christmas present.
