Description

Pat McMurtry fought professionally during the 1950s and is considered to be one of the top fighters to come out of the Tacoma. As an amateur he had a 103-2 record and fought and won his weight class in Tacoma's first Golden Gloves event back in 1949. As a pro, he won his first 16 fights and finished with an impressive 33-4-1 record, losing the last two fights of his career. In 1956, McMurtry suffered his only draw when his fight against California's champion Bob Albright was stopped in the eighth round after McMurtry injured his right hand in the third round. That sidelined McMurtry for six months.
