Prior to a fight in the 1950s, Pat McMurtry has his hands taped by Frankie “Chi Chi” Britt. Britt was a longtime fighter in Tacoma and fought back in the 1920s. Because of his success as a boxer and his contributions as a coach and a trainer, Britt was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame back in 1972. He worked with McMurtry over the years and helped him develop into a heavyweight contender during the 1950s. McMurtry fought professionally from 1954 to late 1959. Like Britt, McMurtry has been inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce Country Sports Hall of Fame.Lexicon
