In 1955, Pat McMurtry faced a rugged, hard-punching Bob Albright, California's heavyweight champ and like McMurtry a top-notched heavyweight contender. McMurtry used his quickness to overcome Albright's 28-pound weight advantage, but after eight brutal rounds the fight was ruled a draw. McMurtry injured his right hand in the third round, which sidelined him for six months. In a rematch four years later in 1959, McMurtry used an aggressive attack to beat Albright with a fifth-round, technical knockout.Lexicon
