Description

Pat McMurtry delivers a hard right into Bob Albright's head in this heavyweight fight that took place in 1955, the first of two meetings betweens these two heavyweight contenders. Albright was from San Fernando, Cal., and was California's heavyweight champ. After eight brutal rounds, the fight was stopped and it was ruled a draw. McMurtry was taken to the hospital after the fight and X-rays showed a bone injury in his right hand, sidelining him for six months. But he came back solid and won five straight bouts. In a rematch fight in 1959, the hard-punching McMurtry defeated Albright with a fifth-round technical knockout.
