Pat McMurtry exchanges some punches in his heavyweight fight in Seattle back in 1955 against California's “Big” Bob Albright. Both fighters were up-and-coming heavyweight contenders. McMurtry turned pro in 1954, a couple years later than he wanted to. But McMurtry joined the Marines and was stationed in Korea for four years and he quickly rose to the rank of sergeant. After seeing lots of combat in the Korean War, McMurtry left the Marines and began his pro boxing career in 1954 and he won his first four fights by a knockout. He suffered his first setback as a pro when he had an eight-round draw against Albright after injuring his hand in the third round. In 1959 in his second-to-last fight of his career, McMurtry defeated Albright by a fifth-round technical knockout. It was McMurtry's second-to-last fight of his career.Lexicon
