Description

Tacoma's Pat McMurtry corners JB Reid and delivers a hard left jab to Reid's head in this heavyweight fight in 1955, a year after McMurtry turned pro. McMurtry won the fight. After serving four years in the Marines during the Korean War, McMurtry turned pro in boxing in 1954. Two months into McMurtry's pro career he was off to a 4-0 start, winning all four fights by knockouts in the first two months of his pro career. McMurtry, who was nicknamed “Irish,” finished his pro career with a 33-4-1 record, winning 25 fights by technical knockouts.
