The ice arena was home to many top level skaters when it opened in the 1930s and hosted touring ice shows throughout most of its existence. Earley skated in the Ice Follies show held at the ice arena. The Ice Follies was a touring show that featured elaborate production numbers and costumes and would later evolve into the Ice Capades to include several Olympians. The Ice Follies received great accolades and had as many as 175 skaters performing in eight shows by the mid 1950s.
