After earning all-state honors in football at Lincoln High School, Duane Lowell went on to be a hard-hitting defensive end and linebacker at the University of Washington in the late 1950s. At Lincoln, Lowell was a three-sport star, playing football, basketball and baseball. As a Husky, Lowell was a two-way starter and often played 60 minutes per game. He played for coaches John Cherberg, Darrell Royal and Jim Owens and then was a graduate assistant coach on the 1960 Husky Rose Bowl team.Lexicon
