After earning all-state honors at Lincoln High School, Duane Lowell was a two-way starter for the University of Washington in the late 1950s. Playing linebacker, defensive end and tight end, Lowell played an entire game during a time in college football where players started both ways. At the UW, he played under coaches John Cherberg, Darrell Royal and Jim Owens. As a graduate assistant coach, he coached on the 1960 Husky Rose Bowl team.Lexicon
