Description

Boxer Pat McMurtry signed this contract for a pro fight back in 1956. He turned pro in 1954 and became a heavyweight contender during the late 1950s. He retired in early 1960 after he was knocked out for 17 minutes and suffered a brain injury against Eddie Machen in Portland, Ore. He then became a referee for boxing events in the Northwest and throughout the world. He finished with a 103-2 amateur record and a 33-4-1 pro record. When he retired from boxing, he sold appliances for Sears. He died April 17, 2011 from liver cancer at age 79.
