Description

Pat McMurtry laces up shoes for a workout sparring with his younger brother, Mike McMurtry, who was 14 months younger. The two brothers were born to box. When their father, Clarence, married his wife, he told her they were going to have two sons and they were both going to box. Clarence, who sold bread, loved boxing and once was an amateur fighter. His two sons would often spar when they were young before a main boxing match in Tacoma. They both became sensational boxers and have both been inducted into Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame.
