Description

Pat McMurtry ducks under a left-handed jab from Willie Pastrano and counter punches with some blows to the body in a fight that was held at Tacoma's Lincoln Bowl in August 1956. Pastrano, who would go on and win the world light heavyweight championship, won this fight against the hometown favorite with a 10-round decision. Pastrano, who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in a 1965 issue, would retire with a 63-13-8 record. McMurtry bounced back after his hard-luck loss to Pastrano and won five straight fights and climbed to fifth in the world rankings for heavyweights.
