Heavyweight fighter Pat McMurtry (far right) stands with a group of men, including Frank Stojack (far left). Stojack, who was born in Canada and moved to Tacoma as a child, played in the NFL in the 1930s after graduating from Washington State University. He played for the old Brooklyn Dodgers of the NFL for two years and later played in the CFL. After football, he became a professional wrestler and when he was elected to the Tacoma city council in 1953 he continued to wrestle professionally. McMurtry was a popular popular boxer and was a world heavyweight contender in the 1950s. He was ranked as high as fifth in the world.Lexicon
