While boxing for Idaho State College in the 1950s, Mike McMurtry throws a combination of punches as his opponent Dick King of the University of California buckles over for protection near the ropes. McMurtry, who started boxing at a young age growing up in Tacoma and attended Lincoln High School, was a dominate boxer in college and ended up winning the NCAA heavyweight title in 1954 and qualified for the NCAA tournament four times.
