Description

Mike McMurtry (far right) stands with the 1955 Pacific Coast champions. They won the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Boxing Association Tournament that was held March 17-18, 1955 at Sacramento. McMurtry was boxing that year at Idaho State College and won the heavyweight title in 1954. Over a 12-year amateur career, McMurtry ended up with a 207-7 record. In the photo from left to right are B. McCullom (119 pounds, Idaho State; E. Elson (125 pounds, Washington State College), D. Axtman (132, Idaho State), B. Wiswall (139 pounds, Santa Clara), T.
