Description

Tacoma's Mike McMurtry (far right) stands with the Pacific Coast Champions of 1954. McMurtry won the 1954 NCAA title while boxing at Idaho State University. McMurtry fought an incredible 214 amateur bouts and fought one pro bout in 1959 when he suffered a head injury in a fight at Seattle's Sick Stadium, ending his boxing career. Also in the picture are (left to right) V. Kobe, E. Olson, G. Inaba, V. Harris, L. Nichols, D. Bender, G. Gladson, T. Stern.
