Description

This photo of two boxers sparring was used as the clover of the 1994 Golden Gloves program. In 2018, the Golden Gloves celebrated it's 70th year. Over the years, many boxers who fought in the event went on to successful pro careers. Leo Randolph fought in the Tacoma Golden Gloves and earned a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics. At 18, Randolph was the youngest on the U.S. team. Tacoma's Emmett Linton Jr. was a four-time Golden Gloves champ and he won the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1990. Both Randolph and Linton are in the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame.
