Here is a photo of the 1996 Tacoma Athletic Commission Golden Gloves Committee. From L-R: Morris McCallum, Brian Hendricks, ?, Greg Plancich, Scott Nordi and Stan Farber. In 1949, Tacoma held its first Golden Gloves event, an amateur boxing tournament. Chicago was the first city to host a Golden Gloves tournament and started up in 1923. In 1962, the national Golden Gloves event began and qualifiers from across the country come to compete. Nordi, the Lakes High School athletic director, was named the 3A Pierce County League and West Central District's top athletic director in 2017. And that same year he was selected as the Washington Association of School Administrator's AD. Farber was a longtime sportswriter for the Tacoma News Tribune.
