Description

The 1978 Pacific Lutheran University Lutes football team finished with a record of 6-3 and tied for second in the Northwest Conference with a 3-2 record. Legendary head coach Frosty Westering’s two sons, Brad (QB) and Scott (E) Westering played for their father. When Frosty retired in 2002 after 32 years and 262 wins at PLU, Scott succeeded him and served as head coach for 14 years, resigning in 2017. Frosty died in 2013. Senior linebacker John Zamberlin was named to the Associated Press Little All-America team. He played six years in the National Football League, four with the News England Patriots and two with the Kansas City Chiefs.
