Description

Bill Priest played wide receiver on offense for White River High School's football team in 1976. With Priest catching passes, the White River Hornets won their league football championship for the first time in 17 years in 1976. Jay Jacobs had four quarterback sacks in one game that season for White River that season, the second most in school history for one player. That same season Dwayne Hiam kicked the first field goal by the team in over 20 years. White River is just outside of Buckley, Washington. Before 1949, it was called Buckley High School. In 2006, White River joined the newly formed 3A South Puget Sound League. In 1909, the Hornets scored their first touchdown when Earl “Early” Bird scooped up a fumble and ran it back for a score against Auburn.
