Description

Former Pacific Lutheran outfielder Jim Kittilsby wears a Seattle Pilots road uniform, including stirrups. Kittilsby was a three-year starter in the outfield for Pacific Lutheran but did not play his senior season as he started his career in pro baseball by working for the Tacoma Giants in 1960, which led to a stint in the front office of the San Francisco Giants. He joined Pacific Northwest Sports, which operated the Seattle Angels and the Seattle Pilots. Kittilsby returned his PLU in 1970 as sports information director, assistant athletic director and baseball coach. Kittilsby played a major role in changing the school's nickname from Knights to Lutes. Kittilsby won three national awards for his work as PLU's sports information director, and was named PLU Distinguished Alumnus in Sports in 1980. He won the Dill Howel Award in 2007 for his dedication to baseball in Pierce County and was elected to Pacific Lutheran's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.
