The Tacoma Tides soccer team was a member of the American Soccer League. The club didn’t last long, playing just one season in 1976, but the Tides finished second in the ASL West, beating the Utah Golden Spikers in the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion Los Angeles Skyahwks in the semifinals. It’s most famous alum includes Bruce Arena, former U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team coach. Arena was the backup goaltender for the Tides.
