Back in the 1940s, a gleeful Carmen Mitchell (left) and Babe Penowich (right) stand in front of a tournament standings board for a local bowling tournament. Penowich competed in a WIBC bowling tournament in St. Paul in 1950. Bowling was a popular sport for women back in the 1940s, 50s and 60s.
