In the late 1940s, Leo Penowich (who is on the left) stands with four other men holding bowling balls. Bowling was a family outing for Penowich. His wife, Babe, was was inducted in the Tacoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. In 1953, 1956 and 1957, Babe maintained the highest average in the state. Her best series was a 689, just missing a 700 series by a single spare while bowling in open play at the old Midway Lanes in 1951. She was inducted into the TWBA Hall of Fame in 1967 and she died in 1973.Lexicon
