Description

In this black-and-white photo taken at the ABC Milwaukee Wisconsin Bowling tournament in 1952, Frisco Burnett is the third man on the left. Burnett was an avid bowler from Tacoma, getting his start in 1942 and was a regular winner in the Class B Major Leagues in Tacoma. He joined the Navy in 1944 and while stationed at a naval training station in California he bowled a 298 and won the base championship. He then picked up his nickname and Francis (his given first name) became “Francisco” to his teammates and soon that was shorted to “Frisco.”
