Tacoma's Joe Wilson was a longtime bowler and became a famous TV commentator for national PBA tournaments. Wilson was known as “Whispering Joe Wilson” as he often spoke in a hush as he provided color commentary so as not to disturb bowlers in popular telecasts in the early 1950s that were shown across the country. The Tacoma bowling leagues in the 1940s and 1950s produced some nationwide competitors like Earl Johnson, Dave Tuell, Ted Tadich and Frisco Burnett. Photo is autographed.
