Description

In this black-and-white photo taken in the 1940s, there are some of the top bowlers in the history of the Tacoma bowling leagues. Among them is Earl Johnson, a long-time PBA member and a five-time PBA tour titlist who was inducted into the ABC Hall of Fame in 1987. Standing in the front row of the picture from left to right are Red Wakefield, Bill Eggleston, Frisco Burnett, Ted Tadich. Kneeling are: unknown, Earl Johnson, Urban Schmidt, Primo or John Artoe. Johnson said he helped perfect his PBA game levels by watching Tadich and Burnett bowl.
