Description

Members of the Lakewood Curling Club pose at the Lakewood Ice Arena. The club was one of many popular sports played at the rink including hockey and figure skating. In the back row, members include Walt Swanson, left to right, Eugene Rigss, John Blair, Marc Tommervik, Bill Ristine, John Johnson and in the front row Ed Stevens, and Gil Richards among the many who played the sport in Tacoma. The ice arena was the entertainment hub from its opening in 1938 until 1982 when part of the building collapsed and the rest was demolished.
