Description

Stan Farber was inducted into the Washington State Sports Hall of Fame as one of the best sportswriters in the area in 2009. Farber, who had a penchant for names and numbers, picked up the nickname “Facts” Farber. At Stadium High School, Farber was a manager for the 1959 state champion basketball team and served as the school newspaper’s sports editor. Farber went on to become the student sports information director at the College of Puget Sound. The same year he graduated from high school in 1959, Farber began a 27-year career with the Tacoma News Tribune, covering nearly every area sport and team. A voting member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Farber also covered the Seattle Pilots before the Seattle Mariners. After leaving the Tribune, Farber started the Farber News Service, covering local sports for many years. Photo donated by Adria Farber.
