Description

Ruggles Larson (center), an amateur boxer while attending Lincoln High School, stands in the ring at the Homer Amundsen Gym in Tacoma in 1947. I. Luchessi (left) was a promoter of pro boxing in Tacoma from 1950 to the 1980s. Tommy Egan (right) was the California welterweight champ that year and he won a 10-round decision over Tommy James at the Tacoma Ice Area. Larson, a 1952 graduate from Lincoln High School, fought in 119 amateur bouts and had a 93-23-3 record. From 1964 to 1972, Larson kept his hand in boxing by writing the Pacific Northwest Boxing News for Ring Magazine. (L-R) I.
