Description

Larson was a long-time boxer in Tacoma beginning when he was attending Stewart Junior High School in the late 1940s. Olson was a popular pro wrestling figure and he was an ex-heavyweight wrestling champ. Boxing at 132 pounds, Larson, a 1952 Lincoln High School graduate, won the Oakland Golden Gloves titles for his weight class in 1953 and 1954. He also won the Vancouver Island title in 1956. Larson fought 119 amateur fights and finished with a 93-23-3 record and he fought professionally briefly to help pay for his college education. Larson received the Doug McArthur Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tacoma Sports Museum in 2012.
