photocopy of photograph of L-R: Joey Maxim, Dave Davey and Ruggles Larson standing in boxing ring. Maxim won a 10 round decision over Roy Hawkins on May 27, 1948 at Tacoma Ice Arena. Maxim won the worlds light heavyweight title on Jan. 24, 1950 in London by stopping Freddie Mills. Maxim retired in 1959 and was elected to the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1975. Roy Hawkins was managed by Jack Conners and boxed out of Tacoma. He was originally from Kalamath Falls, OR. Dave Davey was from Puyallup and moved to Tacoma and boxed for Homer Amundsen. Larson was an amateur boxer for Homer Admundsen.
