Description

After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1955, Jack Walters went on to play both football and baseball at the University of Washington. Walters, wearing jersey number 72 as a lineman, went on to earn his varsity letter for the Huskies football team three times, making it in 1957, 1958, and 1959. He also played catcher on the Huskies' baseball team. Walters was one of six players on the Huskies football team at that time who played high school football at Lincoln. In the fall of 1956, five Lincoln Abes went to the UW on a football scholarship. The five Abes getting scholarships that year were Luther Carr, Jim Jones, Jim Heck, Duane Lowell and Bill Ochs.
