Jack Walters, wearing jersey number 63, does a flying leap while playing for the University of Washington against UCLA in the late 1950s. Walters was one of six Huskies who played their high school football at Tacoma's Lincoln High School and they all graduated from Lincoln in 1955. Besides Walters, the Abes who became Huskies around that time were Luther Carr, Jim Jones, Jim Heck, Bill Ochs, Duane Lowell, Joe Williams and Dennis Adler. Williams earned nine letters as an Abe after moving to Tacoma from Iowa his sophomore year. Williams and Carr became the first sophomores to earn a varsity letter at Lincoln. Besides playing football for the UW, Walters also played baseball for the Huskies. After college, Walters got into golfing and was a two-time national left handers national champ in the 1950s.Lexicon
