Description

Players on the 1964 Tacoma Giants baseball team autographed this baseball in dark blue ink. Charlie Fox managed this Tacoma Giants team. Gerald Thomas, who grew up in Tacoma, was a starting pitcher for the Giants that year. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound pitcher had a 16-12 record with a 3.58 ERA. The 1961 Tacoma Giants team finished with an impressive 97-57 record and were led by Gaylor Perry, a future Major League start. From 1960 to 1965, they were the Tacoma Giants. But in 1965, the San Francisco Giants owner Horace Stoneham moved his Triple-A affiliate from Tacoma to Phoenix. Then from 1966 to 1971, Tacoma's minor team changed affiliations to the Chicago Cubs and they were the Tacoma Cubs.
