Description

This baseball was autographed by players on the 1962 Tacoma Giants baseball team. Among those players to sign this ball includes Gaylord Perry, who went on to an outstanding career in the major leagues as a pitcher. In 1961, the Tacoma Giants finished with an impressive 97-57 record and the team was led by Perry, Ron Herbel, Eddie Fisher and Dick Phillips. Perry went on to become a five-time All-Star in the major leagues and he was the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues – the American League in 1972 with the Cleveland Indians and in the National League in 1978 with the San Diego Padres. In 1982, Perry pitched for the Seattle Mariners and he became just the 15th pitcher to reach the 300-win club in the major leagues.
