Description

Juan Marichal, who is now in Major League Baseball's Hall of Fame, autographed this baseball when he played for the Tacoma Giants in 1960. Marichal pitched a shutout in the Tacoma Giants' first win at Cheney Stadium that year when it opened in 1960. From 1960 to 1965, they were the Tacoma Giants and they were the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Then from 1966 to 1971, they were the Tacoma Cubs. Marichal won more games in the major leagues than any other pitcher during the 1960s. But he appeared in only one World Series game. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983. Red Davis managed the Tacoma Giants from 1960 to 1962. Under Davis, the Giants went 97-57 in 1961 and won the Pacific Coast League championship.
