Description

New York Yankee's hall of famer Babe Ruth stands with elementary aged children from St. Anne's Home in Tacoma back in 1926. St. Anne's Home, a private school which is also known as Sisters of St. Francis, has been operating for nearly 100 years. Babe Ruth played in the major leagues for 22 years, from 1914 to 1935. He played for the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees and the Boston Braves. He smacked 714 home runs in his career, setting a record that stood for a long time. The photo was donated by Mike Ingraham, who worked in newspapers for 40 years and 24 years as a sportswriter for the Tacoma News Tribune.
