Racers in the 1937 Silver Skis competition wore bibs like this one but ultimately didn’t get to race in the fashion they planned. Poor weather forced the cancelation of the race from Camp Muir to Paradise. Unwilling to disappoint the crowd of about 6,000, racers improvised a 25-gate slalom race off of Alta Vista just above Paradise. Siegfried Engl won the slalom and Tacoma’s Don Fraser was third.
