Tacoma's famous bowler Earl Anthony is interviewed by a group of reporters after he won his first Firestone Tournament of Champions tournament in 1974 at Riviera Lanes in Akron, Ohio. Included in the photo are longtime Tacoma News Tribune's sportswriter Mike Ingraham (right, back to the camera), New Jersey columnist and sportswriter Chuck Pezzano (second from the left), and Mort Luby, Jr. of Chicago's Bowlers Journal (third from left). Anthony won 41 PBA's national tour titles and eight major PBA tournaments – both more than any pro bowler in history of the PBA. He was the PBA Player of the Year an unprecedented six times. He joined the PBA Tour in 1963 and became the PBA's all-time winningest player by 1976. He joined the senior tour in 1988 and won seven more titles. Ingraham was a sportswriter for the Tacoma News Tribune for more than 20 years, often covering local and national bowling tournaments. The PBA recognized Ingraham in the 1970s for writing about more pro bowling tournaments than any other sportswriter in the country.Lexicon
