Description

Fife's Bucky Austin, driving in his 2006 Top Alcohol Funny Car, does a burnout and his tires smoke as he races along. Austin would go on to qualify for the NHRA Northwest Nationals. Austin had a reputation for being an aggressive racer. He won 17 NHRA national events in Alcohol Fun Car competition. Austin, a Franklin Pierce High School graduate where he won two state shot put championships in track, won about 90 percent of the car races he entered. He won his first national title in 1986 when he won the Cajun Nationals. He won four of the five national championships between 1987 and 1991.
