This handball was used during Tacoma’s Gordy Pfeifer’s win over Paul Haber (a member of the United States Handball Association Hall of Fame) for the 1971 United States national singles championship.
Pfeifer, a University of Puget Sound graduate, defended his title the following season.
Pfeifer went on to write “Handball – racquetball: a Lifetime Reference Guidebook” and was inducted into the Washington Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
Pfeifer won 16 major world, professional, and national handball championships and more than 200 regional titles.
