Description

This size large sleeveless shift was worn by Tacoma’s Gordy Pfeifer while competing in the first pro handball tournament held in the United States in Aurora, Ill., in 1974. The white shirt has “1st ‘Pro’ “ printed on the right side front, St. Paul A.C. on the left front, both above HANDBALL in red letters. Gordon Pfeifer is printed on the back. The eight-player tournament was won by Dennis Hofflander from Chicago. One of Hoffander’s toughest matches in the tournament was against Pfeifer, with Pfeifer rallying from an 18-10 deficit before losing 21-19. The tournament was covered by Sports Illustrated in its April 15, 1974 issue. .
