Joan Schenke was one of the top performers at the Lakewood Ice Arena’s Lakewood Figure Skating Club. Schenke went on to garner a 1956 U.S. Junior National Championship, and was runner-up to Carol Heiss in the Senior Ladies Division the following year. Schenke also finished third in the North American Championships and was seventh in the World Championships.
