A copy of the March 1957 Skating magazine showcased Joan Schenke of the Lakewood Figure Skating Club and the Lakewood Ice Arena. Schenke went on to garner a 1957 U.S. Junior National Championship, and was runner-up to Carol Heiss in the Senior Ladies Division the following year. Schenke also finished third in the North American Championships and was seventh in the World Championships.
