Mitchell scored 96 goals in 96 matches for the Stars from 1984 to 1985.
Mitchell, a Vancouver, B.C., native, scored three goals for Canada at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and played for Canada at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
Mitchell coached the Canadian national team from 2007-09.
