Stadium High School’s Ray Payne completes a successful pole vault during a dual meet at Centralia High School in 1943. Payne’s success came at a time shortly after a dominant run by Stadium’s rival, Lincoln. From 1935-41, Lincoln won three state titles and finished second twice. There wasn’t a state championship meet in ‘43.
