Bob Malley, a Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame inductee, wore this Blue Barons Motorcycle Club sweater. Malley’s love of motorcycle racing spanned four decades. The Stadium High graduate began racing in 1960 and two years later was the leading scrambles rider in the Northwest. Malley went professional and by the mid-1960s achieved expert status in the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) and was a leading rider on the western racing circuit. Following his racing days, Malley became known as “Bouncing Bob” for his exuberant starting antics — including seeing how high he could jump above the motorcycles when beginning a race. Malley went on to sponsor two local clubs that taught young riders the art of motorcycling and safe-riding techniques.
