Description

These 1920s-era ski poles were donated by 1942 National Combined Champion Shirley Fopp. With their oversized baskets, these bamboo poles were typical of those used by skiers on Mount Rainier at the time. Bamboo is lightweight, making it ideal for ski poles. Some still use bamboo poles today. However, aluminum and carbon fiber poles are much more common.
